Boomerangs, Growth, and Culture: The Hyperscience Difference

December 9 2024

Caron Cone, Chief People Officer

There are many reasons Hyperscience is a unique and special company, and a great place to work. The primary reason is our talent. The strength of our product is a direct reflection of the minds involved in producing such a dominant platform. We are also clear that the key to our success is prioritizing investments in our people, programs, and culture to ensure we attract and retain the best and the brightest talent in the AI and ML market.

As Chief People Officer at Hyperscience, our People team’s focus is on tracking the pulse of our talent through various metrics and KPIs, rewarding and recognizing those who are most impactful, and ensuring development and progression opportunities are made available to those who have earned them. As a result, I’m happy to say that in the last year and a half, our talent metrics continue to improve.

One metric I find particularly noteworthy is the number of employees that have returned to Hyperscience, after leaving for a time to work elsewhere.  I’m proud to say that in the last two years, we’ve had 10 of these “boomerang” employees come back to us. The majority of these employees are on our development team, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. In addition to Sofia, we have boomerang employees across Europe and the United States, in various roles spanning software engineers, technical support, ML product managers, and human resources.

Our ability to re-attract talent is significant. It is a clear indication of our positive employer brand  in the tech community, and our reputation for creating a positive culture that is ideal for developers and AI / ML engineers. In a market where many tech companies engage in a bidding war to attract top AI talent, our positive reputation continues to grow organically, which helps us attract talent that may otherwise choose to go to much larger tech conglomerates.

In the past several months, we’ve also made several key hires that demonstrate Hyperscience’s ability to compete for top, proven, experienced talent. In August we hired JJ Trahan, a proven Go-to-Market (GTM) leader with successful extended runs in sales leadership at Qualtrics and PTC, as our new EVP of Global Sales. We also hired Kham Lewis, a top talent in demand generation, as our new VP of Growth, and Chip VonBurg, an industry veteran with deep experience working at  intelligent document processing (IDP) companies, as our new Field CTO. These experts have choices and chose to join Hyperscience. Overall, in the past 12 months, we’ve more than doubled our GTM team, reflecting our confidence and bullish view on the continued demand for our enterprise AI platform.

Hyperscience has a unique and enthralling culture, where employees are fully engaged and passionate about doing fantastic work. Most importantly, this great work translates to innovative software solutions and services for our customers, as well as tremendous business value and ROI for the customers that choose Hyperscience as their enterprise AI and hyperautomation platform.

2024 has been a terrific year at Hyperscience. While I have been at the company for three and a half years, I firmly believe that our brightest days are ahead of us. We have more momentum than ever, and are on the cusp of notable success in 2025.

As this year draws to a close, our employees from around the globe will gather in Sofia, Bulgaria for Hyperdrive Innovate and the Technology Summit. We will recognize the terrific work our teams are doing and also look ahead to the product roadmap that will keep Hyperscience on the cutting edge of the AI / ML market. And of course, we’ll celebrate our boomerang employees during these events.

Speaking of boomerangs, we put together a brief video showcasing them, with quick takes on why they chose Hyperscience – again.
