In October 2019, we announced the opening of our London office, our second in Europe and third worldwide! Ahead of attending Insurtech Insights in London from March 17-18th, we caught up with Nay Odutola, Area Vice President, EMEA, about #LifeatHyperscience across the pond.
What do you do at Hyperscience?
I was hired to grow Hyperscience’s EMEA presence. To start, we’re focused on the UK, France, Germany and Spain – languages we cover and can support. As part of my role, I’ll be developing our sales and customer success teams. We just hired three exceptional account executives – James, Denis and Stephanie – and our first sales development representative, Reuben. Our team is small but mighty, and we’re still growing!
Why did you decide to join Hyperscience?
In my 15 years in the industry, I’ve never come across technology or a team quite like this. The problem we’re solving, the size of the market, and the value we’re adding to customers – and their customers – is really exceptional. When I first learned about this opportunity, I did my research. Today we’re helping the world’s largest financial services and insurance companies unlock the value of data that’s historically been trapped in paper documents, PDFs, images and more. This enables our clients to speed up processes, reduce costs, reduce errors and the risks associated with them, and drive revenue. It’s transforming the ways in which they operate.
What challenges are you and your (growing) team solving for in 2020?
There are always challenges when you enter a new market, especially as a relatively unknown brand, but that brings big opportunities as well. London is a competitive hiring market so making sure you’re attracting the right talent is key. I’ve never joined an organization with such a strong culture. Even with multiple offices, there really is ‘one Hyperscience’ and no business unit works separately. The company’s values are practiced every day. I’ve worked at other companies that promote work/life balance, but this is a company that really cares about its people, and you want to deliver and show up for the company as a result. What we’re building in London is no different.
Who are you outside of Hyperscience?
I love cycling (whether that’s trail, forest or road) and traveling with my family. I love to cook and meet new people, but I really can’t remember what I did before my kids – my weekends now are soccer practice and ballet lessons.
